The two formulas you need
Price per pouch = price per can ÷ pouches in the can
Price per can is the quickest way to compare offers for the same product. Price per pouch is the fairer measure when cans hold different numbers of pouches — for example a 20-pouch can versus a 24-pouch can.
Worked examples
These are illustrative numbers to show the maths, not real store prices.
| Offer | Total | Per can | Per pouch (20/can) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 can | €5.20 | €5.20 | €0.26 |
| 10-pack | €45.00 | €4.50 | €0.225 |
| 30-pack | €120.00 | €4.00 | €0.20 |
The 30-pack is 23% cheaper per can than a single can — but only if you need 30 cans before their best-before date.
When cans hold different numbers of pouches
Imagine product A costs €4.80 for 20 pouches and product B costs €5.40 for 24 pouches. Per can, A looks cheaper. Per pouch, A costs €0.240 and B costs €0.225 — so B is actually the better value if you would use either one.
Adding shipping to the unit price
To get the delivered price per can, add shipping to the total before dividing:
Example: 5 cans at €4.90 = €24.50. With €5.90 shipping the delivered price is €30.40, or €6.08 per can. Order 10 cans and reach a €49 free-shipping threshold, and the delivered price drops to €4.90 per can.
Comparing across currencies
If one store charges in GBP and another in EUR, convert using a dated exchange rate and remember your card provider may add a fee. PouchHunters shows GBP and USD as indicative conversions from EUR list prices; the store’s own checkout price is what you pay.
